Things To Do in Wedgwood
Wedgwood is best known for its plethora of recreation options. The neighborhood is home to three city parks with the standout being Patricia LeBlanc Park, which gained national recognition in the 1990s as the first universal playground in the country, designed so kids of all abilities can play together. Westcreek Park on Jennie Drive covers 17 acres and features basketball and tennis courts, a soccer field, and a playground. Wedgwood Neighborhood Park at 5309 Winifred Drive has a duck pond, walking trail, and playground equipment. For fitness, the ER Van Zandt Southwest YMCA and the YMCA Sports Complex on Altamesa Boulevard offer team sports for kids as young as 3 plus adult fitness classes. The Southwest branch of the Fort Worth Public Library is just a few minutes away.
Shopping and dining are anchored by Hulen Mall, one of the largest malls in Fort Worth, featuring Macy's and Dillard's anchors plus dozens of national retailers. The mall has spurred entertainment growth nearby, including a Movie Tavern theater and an AMC theater further down Hulen Street. For food, locals love Mexican Inn Café for Tex-Mex classics, La Casita for casual Mexican, and the steady mix of chain and homegrown spots along Hulen and McCart Avenue. The neighborhood also features a Native Plant Demonstration Garden where you can walk among cacti and succulents or visit the Butterfly Garden. Wedgwood is bordered by Granbury Road on the northwest, Altamesa Boulevard to the south, McCart Avenue to the east, and Interstate 20 along the north edge, so getting in and out for downtown Fort Worth or the Cultural District is about a 20 minute drive via Chisholm Trail Parkway.
