Careful Piano Moves

Moving a Piano? Trust a Trained Crew

A piano can weigh from 300 to more than 1,000 pounds, and much of that weight sits on a delicate frame. One wrong turn can crack the soundboard, scratch the finish, or hurt someone.

Our crew measures the path first, pads the whole piano, and straps it to a piano board. Grands are taken apart with care, moved in pieces, and put back together in your new room. We have even moved a 500 pound organ into a Canyon Lake home after other movers said no.

FAQS

Piano Moving Questions

How much does it cost to move a piano in New Braunfels?
A local upright move is usually the two hour minimum, $420, a baby grand $400 – $900, and a full grand $600 – $1,200. Stairs, steep drives, and very large grands cost more.
Do you take grand pianos apart?
Yes. We remove the legs, lyre, and pedals, wrap the body, strap it to a piano board, and rebuild it at the new home.
Can you move a piano up stairs or a steep drive?
Yes. We plan the crew size and path first, and the extra time is part of your written price.
Do I need to tune the piano after the move?
Yes. Most pianos need tuning a few weeks after a move, once they settle.
Can you move an organ?
Yes. Organs are heavy and awkward, and our crew has moved them into homes other movers refused.
Can you move a gun safe?
Yes. We use safe dollies and floor protection, and check the weight and door widths first.
Is my piano covered?
Basic coverage is included, and you can add higher coverage for a valuable piano before the move.
How early should I book?
Uprights can often move within a week. Grands and stair jobs need one to three weeks.

Heavy Item
Larry Heagren Aug 31, 2026
These Movers took on a job that no Moving Company wanted - to move a 500 pound organ from storage at Cube Smart Canyon Lake to my home in Waterfront Park, Canyon Lake. I heard "it's too heavy" from other movers but Evolution Moving stepped up to the plate. These guys know their craft very well!

These guys moved my son from New Braunfels to Denton and were awesome. Young guys that made it look easy, and I know it's not. I would recommend them to anyone moving.

Nicest guys - John and John. Always polite and thoughtful. Easy to work with. Worked quickly and quietly. Ben the manager was thoughtful in follow through, and the sales rep was friendly and easy to follow and transparent. An excellent value.

Frequently Asked Questions

Getting Ready for Piano Day

What should I do before the movers come?
Clear a path, move rugs and small furniture, and close the piano lid.
Should I empty the bench?
Yes. We move the bench too, but take out the music books first.
Do you need photos?
Yes. Photos of the piano and both paths help us send the right crew.
Can you move a piano in the rain?
We wrap it fully, but we may reschedule in heavy rain to keep it dry.
Do you store pianos?
Yes. Pianos can go into secure storage between homes.
What if my floor gets scratched?
We lay floor protection first. If anything happens, we open a claim the same day.
